The Red Letter

Authors of the World Unite! | 25 January 2012

Dear [simplenews-receiver-name],

Did you know that scientists at Cornell University invented a time cloak—they hid an event for 40 trillionths of a second—and tinkered with the speed of light? A common theme in science fiction and comics, time travel has been explored in wide-ranging works of fiction from H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine to Audrey Niffenegger’s The Time Traveler’s Wife. And Red Room authors, from James Patterson (Daniel X) to Karl Alexander (whose Time After Time was made into a popular 1979 film) to Will Entrekin (The Prodigal Hour), have explored time travel, dystopian futures, and nonlinear time in their short stories and novels. Whether real or fictitious, please share your favorite time travel story with us.

A "Red-Letter Day" is a memorably happy and significant day; the term comes from the custom of marking holidays on a calendar in red ink (first known usage in 1704). We hope you have a Red-Letter Day today!
